Join us for the webinar "Small-strain stiffness of soil, its measurement and applications in geotechnical design"

Geophysical and geotechnical surveys are used to characterize the subsoil for offshore projects, but quantitative integration of both survey types is not often performed. AVO inversion allows the determination of shear modulus, bulk modulus and density from pre-stack seismic data.

Direct measurements of the small-strain shear modulus at borehole locations provide an essential ground truth for the inversion. In this webinar, the methods for in-situ determination of the small-strain shear modulus are discussed in detail. Several techniques exist for determining the small-strain shear modulus in-situ and in the geotechnical laboratory but results may vary between the techniques.

In this webinar, the different techniques for small-strain shear modulus determination are presented with their advantages and draw-backs. In addition to being a parameter for quantitative integration of geophysics and geotechnics, the small-strain shear modulus is increasingly used in geotechnical design. Applications to foundation types where the structural stiffness is the primary design driver will be presented.
